Joglaresa - The Scimitar and the Sword

Joglaresa, the leading medieval music ensemble, will be performing The Scimitar and the Sword, on Friday 8 September, 18:30-19:30, at St John's Church in Clerkenwell.

The Scimitar and the Sword presents a selection of Muslim, Jewish and Christian music from all sides of the Crusades - a very fitting accompaniment for a Military Orders conference! Entry is free for all conference delegates but, if you wish to invite friends, a limited number of tickets are available for the general public. See https://scimitarandsword.eventbrite.co.uk for details.

Registration deadline extended

Registration for the Military Orders conference will now be accepted until 28 February, in order to accommodate numerous expressions of interest we have received after the initial deadline. Note that communication proposals will also continue to be considered until this new deadline. Attendees who do not intend to present papers of course remain equally welcome.

MO7 Bursaries

We are happy to announce that the SSCLE (Society for the Study of the Crusades and the Latin East) has provided funds to secure two bursaries worth up to £250 each. An anonymous donor has also provided funds to secure five bursaries worth up to £100 each.

Applicants for bursaries should be either Ph.D. students or early-career scholars (who have received their doctorate within the last ten years) who will be presenting a communication at the conference. To apply, email a short statement of intent, of not more than 500 words, to the conference administrator, Pamela Willis.

You will be informed of the Organizing Committee's decision of whether to award a grant within a maximum period of 30 days from the date of your application.
